It’s a nice memory.
She’s poolside with a bunch of folks she hasn’t seen in awhile, but is happy to see. Her hair’s back to sunstreaked brown for all the interviews she’s been doing for the early leap to grad school dirtside, where they don’t want their students too high maintenance and her blue and purple waves were a little too much.
The lime green bikini was in her drawer where she’d left it two years ago and it’s probably too small but hey.
Girl’s gotta live while she’s young.
And it made dad’s blood pressure go up, which is where she likes it. Scott rebels his way, enlisting even though dad had him a place at the academy. She’s got her own.
Mom laughed, that rusty laugh. She looks good, tan and her face filling back out, so maybe the docs are wrong.
So she’s having a good time. There’s a drink in her hand she’s not exactly legal for, but it’s a family party.
And it’s flattering when someone it takes her a blink to recognize slides into the space Bobbi left when she went for a swim.
Someone with an easy going grin, a hint of silver to his hair, a pair of gorgeous eyes, and a low purr to his, “So, I don’t think we’ve met but…”
Right before he blinks wide and nearly swallows his tongue. “Sara?”
“Hiya, Harry.”

Idea for a very weird Time Quangle - the "Oops, All Animals"-Quangle. Maybe someone else has already thought of this one, but as far as I know, it's my own brainchild. It's inherently weird because it would have to include characters from some Aabria-seasons to work.
Brian Murphy as either Kugrash or Gerard the Frog Prince
Emily Axford as Lady Chirp Featherfowl
Lou Wilson as Lord Squak Airavis
Zac Oyama as Puss-in-Boots
Ally Beardsley as Lars Vandenchomp
Siobhan Thompson as Jaysohn
This already is stretching the definition of "animal" a bit, because Chirp and Squak are humanoid Fae reminiscent of specific birds. But working from the assumption that we want the Intrepid Heroes cast, they seem to me to make the most sense.
Could potentially also make arguments for Lapin Cadbury (technically a rabbit, but primarily a Candian), Sir Theodore Gumbar (technically a bear, but primarily a Candian), Ylfa Snorgelson (because werewolf), Ricky Matsui (specifically from the time he was turned into a dog, and he was the bestest boy), Riva or Skip (being of species that are on exhibit in a zoo might qualify them, although they are fully sentient), or Mother Goose (reeeaaally stretching the definitions of "animal" now, but there is the whole "are you the goose or the witch riding the goose" thing, so).
Most obvious setting seems like it would be the Of Mice and Murder setting that Lars is native to. But Neverafter would work well too, and honestly, any setting could be made to work, some a lot more easily than others.
Funniest setting I can think of would be for them all to get caught in the St Dotto's field from MisMag2 and be fully drawn into it as medical professionals, and just run a short medical drama Time Quangle campaign.
They're all from D&D (or D&D-compatible) settings, so it works from that perspective.
Biggest problem: keeping PiB from eating Jaysohn. Or in turn, keeping Jaysohn from murdering PiB in some extreme body horror way. They're both from body horror seasons. It would not be pretty.
I suspect Squak might be into Gerard at first, but Gerard has... trauma re: birds of prey (RIP to the Freds), so that would probably not work out. Squak and Lars, on the other hand...
I have thoughts, lol.

I feel as if I live up to my role as Watson to Purrlock because I have seen your posts on this blog but never figured out it was you... (c'mon, brain!)
Demurely requesting a Hallowe'en figurine...? Anything you love about Hallowe'en, though I would love to see punpkins!
Aaeeii! I'm so excited, and absolutely delighted with this spooky little request! You wanted pumpkins I made pumpkins :) and no worries, I know it's a little hard to keep track on everything being posted. (especially when I flood you all with my obsessions)
An unsuccessful scarecrow, in a field of pumpkins.
Tumblr media
I also threw in a goose. Because I can't help myself apparantly. Fun fact! Geese are the first thing I ever figured out how to make from clay!
If you liked these guys take a look at what else I do. I'm always open to requests because strange interesting thing s to make sure a challenge and I am sorry lacking in them at the moment!
Happy Halloween!
(and thanks for this ask, totally made my day)

AUs I intend on one day writing up:
Huaisang truly breaks from his brother's death and the Headshaker really is who he is now. It's not an act. [x]
Huaisang's mum was a Jin.
Huaisang never escapes from the Wen sect and when that still isn't enough to stop Nie from fighting them, they make it seem like they killed Huaisang. He is, in fact, alive. More or less. [x]
Huaisang being raised by the Wen sect. When their father die, they swoop in and takes Huaisang to raise him until Mingjue is of age. They claim it's to help him, but he is actually a hostage in a try to keep the young Nie-zongzhu in check. They have no intentions of returning him. [x]
Cultivators are mythical creatures that can take human shape. The Nie Clan are either Chaofeng or Xiezhi. (I have seen them as Taotie, but since that's a "demonic creature", it doesn't really fit imo.)

10 Non-Lethal Injuries to Add Pain to Your Writing
New Part: 10 Lethal Injury Ideas
If you need a simple way to make your characters feel pain, here are some ideas:
1. Sprained Ankle
A common injury that can severely limit mobility. This is useful because your characters will have to experience a mild struggle and adapt their plans to their new lack of mobiliy. Perfect to add tension to a chase scene.
2. Rib Contusion
A painful bruise on the ribs can make breathing difficult, helping you sneak in those ragged wheezes during a fight scene. Could also be used for something sport-related! It's impactful enough to leave a lingering pain but not enough to hinder their overall movement.
3. Concussions
This common brain injury can lead to confusion, dizziness, and mood swings, affecting a character’s judgment heavily. It can also cause mild amnesia.
I enjoy using concussions when you need another character to subtly take over the fight/scene, it's an easy way to switch POVs. You could also use it if you need a 'cute' recovery moment with A and B.
4. Fractured Finger
A broken finger can complicate tasks that require fine motor skills. This would be perfect for characters like artists, writers, etc. Or, a fighter who brushes it off as nothing till they try to throw a punch and are hit with pain.
5. Road Rash
Road rash is an abrasion caused by friction. Aka scraping skin. The raw, painful sting resulting from a fall can be a quick but effective way to add pain to your writing. Tip: it's great if you need a mild injury for a child.
6. Shoulder Dislocation
This injury can be excruciating and often leads to an inability to use one arm, forcing characters to confront their limitations while adding urgency to their situation. Good for torture scenes.
7. Deep Laceration
A deep laceration is a cut that requires stitches. As someone who got stitches as a kid, they really aren't that bad! A 2-3 inch wound (in length) provides just enough pain and blood to add that dramatic flair to your writing while not severely deterring your character.
This is also a great wound to look back on since it often scars. Note: the deeper and wider the cut the worse your character's condition. Don't give them a 5 inch deep gash and call that mild.
8. Burns
Whether from fire, chemicals, or hot surfaces, burns can cause intense suffering and lingering trauma. Like the previous injury, the lasting physical and emotional trauma of a burn is a great wound for characters to look back on.
If you want to explore writing burns, read here.
9. Pulled Muscle
This can create ongoing pain and restrict movement, offering a window to force your character to lean on another. Note: I personally use muscle related injuries when I want to focus more on the pain and sprains to focus on a lack of mobility.
10. Tendonitis
Inflammation of a tendon can cause chronic pain and limit a character's ability to perform tasks they usually take for granted. When exploring tendonitis make sure you research well as this can easily turn into a more severe injury.
This is a quick, brief list of ideas to provide writers inspiration. Since it is a shorter blog, I have not covered the injuries in detail. This is inspiration, not a thorough guide. Happy writing! :)

speculative fiction writers i am going to give you a really urgent piece of advice: don't say numbers. don't give your readers any numbers. how heavy is the sword? lots. how old is that city? plenty. how big is the fort? massive. how fast is the spaceship? not very, it's secondhand.
the minute you say a number your readers can check your math and you cannot do math better than your most autistic critic. i guarantee. don't let your readers do any math. when did something happen? awhile ago. how many bullets can that gun fire? trick question, it shoots lasers, and it shoots em HARD.
you are lying to people for fun. if you let them do math at you the lie collapses and it's no fun anymore.

why would you hide the tags?! #Steve turns around and Eddie is rolling on the bed with his face covered#giggling like a teenage girl#and Steve is like wtf is wrong with you#and Eddie is like ‘ask my husband’#and Steve is close to spontaneous combustion
this is so cute
Since I’m loving the concept of “accidental husbands”, I present you Steve being tired of his family assuming his relationship with Eddie is just a phase and he will marry some girl in the future, so he starts referring to Eddie as his husband.
He enjoys his parents’ outraged reaction so he keeps doing it until it becomes normal for him and one day he’s doing something as simple as ordering take out and Steve says “oh, and my husband will have…” with Eddie next to him.
Steve doesn’t even notice what he just said but oh boy, Eddie does.

What place do you write from? For when you're creating a poem for the very first time?
Well, mostly I'd be listening to music and then suddenly a word or a sentence in the song will suddenly strike and resonate with me and all of a sudden that turns into the first two lines of my new poem or poetry and before I know it, I have a whole thing written. The thing is, it is mostly based on how I feel in that moment ,then the words come or if i had gone through something painful recently. It all depends on my emotional state at the time and I'll be writing and drawing from that place and that is how most of my poems are usually born.

The Chat said something a few days back and it gave me plot bunnies
Many thoughts but it's all still a bit disorganized
IwtV (AMC) spoilers
Someone proposed that maybe Armand falls for Daniel in the Dubai era and DM hasn't happened yet, and so that's been eating my brain and here are something semi-coherent thoughts about fic options:
The thing that spared Daniel's life was Louis, straight up. Armand was completely prepared to end Daniel right then and there albeit about as gentle as getting killed by a vampire can be
However, Louis saves Daniel and Armand wants to know why beyond like any answer Louis can actually give him
So Armand takes Daniel's memories and Louis' too and that's that
Except it's not that because Louis sees Daniel on TV like 20 years later as a CNN commentator or something and is kind of fascinated by him and kind of sort of remembers telling Daniel his life's story and getting too high to remember the rest
Armand lets Louis keep tabs on Daniel because it's not hurting anything and Louis isn't suicidal about it
Anyway, here we are 50 years later and somehow Louis gets hold of the tapes and Louis is like "I want to try talking it out again. I think it helped me." And Armand is like internal red alert sirens but sure fine why not the 20 year old kite is now a 70 year old seasoned journalist so maybe it'll work out and if not, he can eat Daniel and reconfigure Louis' memory
Or something like Armand and Louis are on/off over 77 years instead of on all the time, and during their off period Louis finds more of Claudia's journals and that leads to him eating someone in 2000 and Armand putting him in Dubai for Louis' "sake."
Either way, it's been 50 years and Daniel is here. Armand decides to pretend to be human for the gag and also because he's been thinking for the last 50 years about what might have made Daniel fascinating, what might make humans fascinating
This is why Daniel has all those lamps, Armand has indeed spied on him from time to time over the decades out of curiosity but doesn't approach Daniel. Like there is a chase but it's not formal and they never had their train moment or something
Anyway, the more Armand gets to know this Daniel, the more he comes to understand that maybe Louis' comments were more than just meant to rile and cut him, that Daniel is actually interesting
And so this leads to them kind of like entering into this weird fascination game or something
Got to read up on some gothic horror stuff so I can get the beats right
Armand has decided he wants the mortal who's seen so many years
Armand also doesn't want Louis to die
Daniel meanwhile is trying to figure out how to save Louis from Armand
Though Ragland is right, Louis "only eats a whole human every so many decades" de Point du Lac might be the bigger concern
Lestat shows up at some point
Louis might try to commit suicide again?
Something...something....it ends with Armand and Daniel on Night Island or maybe to Daniel's transformation?
I mean like it'd be a modified version of that chapter from TQotD and that means it could end with Daniel turning into a vampire because Armand can't let him go
Which would mean a long fic or maybe chapters
There's a lot to consider and probably re-consider even. I'll see how it goes
